Financial Aid FAQ
How do I know if I qualify for federal financial aid
Oklahoma State University calculates the Cost of Attendance (COA) for each academic year. The COA is the total, average amount of money it will cost a student to attend OSU during one school year (fall and spring semesters). Your Estimated Family Contribution (EFC) is determined based on information you provide in the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). You will qualify for federal financial aid if your EFC is less than the COA (i.e., COA - EFC > 0).
Will receiving a S-STEM scholarship affect my other financial aid?
The total financial aid package you receive can not exceed the Cost of Attendance (COA) for Oklahoma State University. Therefore, receiving this scholarship could reduce other financial aid you receive, but only if you receive enough to cover the COA. In most cases, receiving a S-STEM scholarship will reduce the loan and work study part of a student’s financial aid package.
Why do I need to complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)?
The scholarship program requires demonstrated financial need, which is determined based on information provided in the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
