Retention Criteria
Requirements for continued participation in the program will include:
- remain a biological science, zoology, or physiology major
- full-time student status
- maintain a graduation/retention GPA of 3.0
- satisfactory academic progress toward chosen major (i.e., enrolling in the recommended sequence of courses and earning a C in courses required for the major)
- continued evidence of financial need
- completion of required course (Life Sciences Transfer Orientation seminar)
- development and maintenance of a portfolio to document experiences and best work
- participation in five professional development activities each semester, including two career awareness activities (e.g., career awareness seminars and associated activities, workshops sponsored by Career Services, etc.), one student organization activity (e.g., activities sponsored through Tri-Beta, Tau Sigma, the Transfer Student Organization, etc.), and two other activities (e.g., peer mentoring, peer tutoring, and S-STEM sponsored optional activities, such as research projects, internships, graduate school related activities, or professional society meetings). Some activities (e.g., research projects and internships) may replace more than one required activity.
